Although its not a independent film i'm going to look at how it uses the noir style and genre and incorporate it into my movie. I will study costume, lighting, acting, props, and style and try and replicate it with a modern vibe to add to it.

This image shows Humphrey Bogart with the Maltese Falcon. although its not much the lighting and costume and props give it so much more character and mystery. with the costume, props, and lighting in this photo we are left asking many questions. Why is he in a suit? Whats the object hes holding? Why is it so dark?

I think the darkness really adds to the mystery of the characters and scenes. and again makes you ask a number of questions such as, "Why are they only coming out at night?" I'm going to try and make my own modern noir photographs based off these images from "The Maltese Falcon".
